Poster of Iranian Proverbs, the 3rd Iranian typography exhibitions, designed by Majid Abbasi, 2006

Iranian Proverbs, The Third Iranian Typography Exhibition 2006
June 8- 22, 2006; Tehran Gallery (Tehran), Vesal Gallery (Shiraz) , Art Center Gallery (Isfahan)

The 5th Color organizes its 3rd typography exhibition, Iranian Proverbs, following the two previous and successful ones. The exhibition is simultaneously held in Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz showing 58 works of 58 graphic designers out of 872 works from 371 graphic designers and students.

The Iranian Proverbs exhibition was in some ways different from the previous ones. Firstly, choosing the title “Iranian Proverbs” helped designers adapt the subject to the type. This matter was also considered in selecting the works. Secondly, organizing the exhibition simultaneously in three cities of Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz was to encourage other graphic designers who are based outside the capital and therefore the exhibition could cover more areas. Thirdly and for the first time, The 5th Color has decided to admire some young graphic designers such as Zeynab Izadyar, Mohammadreza Abdolali & Mehdi Naghashzadeh for their efforts regarding the subject of the exhibition. There was also another difference in this exhibition, showing a selection of book covers of Behzad Golpayegani (1938-1985). The 5th Color has also decided to continue this so that everyone can enjoy an exhibition of one the late graphic designers along with the main typography exhibition. Behzad Golpayegani was the 5th Color’s first choice because the type and the typography were in the center of his attention.

The exhibition is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture in Fars Province, Vesal Gallery, Meshkat Company, Art Center of Isfahan Province, Markazi Graphics, Tehran Gallery, Yassavoli Publications and Cheshmeh Publications. We also enjoyed the help of Dr. Hassan Anvari, Ali Dehbashi, Behzad Golpayegani’s family specially his son Farzad, Morteza Akoochkian and Morteza Mahalati. The exhibition is held in Tehran in Tehran Gallery, in Isfehan in Art Center Gallery and in Shiraz in Vesal Gallery from June 8th until June 22nd.
There is also a catalog of the exhibition available in 92 pages, printed and published by Yasavoli Publications.
