Reza Abedini: Poster Exhibition, 2002

Ralph Schraivogel in Tehran
September 7, 2002; The Artists House Gallery, Tehran, Iran.

An exhibition of the posters of Ralph Schraivogel will be organized by the graphic designers group "The 5th Color" in collaboration with the Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) opening on September 7th, 6:00 pm in The Iranian Artists Forum. In this exhibition, 16 posters that are made by silk-screen techniques, will be shown.

Ralph Schraivogel was born in1960 in Luzern, Switzerland.
From 1977 to 1982, he received his education at the Zurich School of Design. In1982 upon completion of his studies, he opened his own graphic design studio in Zürich.
For the Zürich repertory cinema "Film Podium" he is working since 1983 and for the Zürich Museum of Design "Museum für Gestaltung Zürich" he works frequently since 1984. From 1986 to 1989 he did posters and catalogues for the Zürich Museum of Fine Art "Kunsthaus Zürich" In 1991.
he did the graphic design for the Theatre "Theater am Neumarkt". Schraivogel has worked for many other cultural institutions like the Jazz Festival Zürich, the Litreture Days in Solothurn, and the African Film Festival in Zürich.
From 1992 until 2001 he has been teaching at the Zürich School of Design. 2000/2001 he was a guest professor at the HdK in Berlin.
He has been awarded several prizes, including Gold Medal at the "Warsaw Poster Biennial" (1994) for the poster "Cinemafrica 1991", Gold Medal at the "Moscow Poster Biennial, Golden Bee" (1994) for the poster "Henry van de Velde", Gold Medal at the "Chaumont Poster Festival" (1997) for the poster "John Ford", Grand Prix at the "Brno Biennial" (1998) for several posters, Gold Medal at the "Ningbo International Poster Exhibition" (2001) for the poster "Paul Newman", Gold Medal at the ADC New York for the poster "NY" (2003).
Three times he received the "Swiss Federal Prize for Applied Art” (1995, 1997, 2000) and twelve times the "Best Swiss Poster of the Year Award" (since 1989).
His posters are part of various permanent collections, among which is the MoMA in New York.
He is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).
