Sayfouri in “Designers Portraits”

“Designers Portraits” features more than 120 portraits of the
well-known international designers, which have been photographed by
the Swiss graphic designer and photographer, Melchior Imboden on his
travels around the world during the last ten years. A selection of
the prominent work of each designer accompanies the portraits.
From Iran, Majid Abbasi, Saed Meshki and Bijan Sayfouri together
with Morteza Momayez and Reza Abedini are some of the participants
of this exhibition. At the same time the book of the exhibition,
“Designers Portraits” was published by Hesign Publishing & Design in
Berlin, in 532 pages.
In the introduction of the book, “To see and to be seen”, Uwe Loesch
writes:
“Should you happen to come across a camera somewhere, Melchior
Imboden cannot be far away. The camera is rarely attached to him,
it’s more likely that he is attached to it. In constant motion, he
unerringly circles the next object of his polyphemic propensity.
With disarming kindness, he closed in on the unbidden space
surrounding human beings in his near vicinity to capture – almost in
passing – the familiar and unfamiliar. Melchior Imboden reappears
time and again, traversing the fields of art and design. Apart of
his passion for photography, he designs – in equal measure –
outstanding posters, which are exhibited and honored with awards at
international biennales. Artists and designers who are aware of his
eclectic talent have willingly let him portray them for more than 10
years.”
Melchior Imboden was born in 1956 in Stanz, Switzerland. He studied
graphic design at the University of Design and Art in Lucerne. After
practical work in Milan and Basel, he worked initially at a major
advertising agency in Zurich. Thereafter, in 1992 he became an
independent graphic designer and photographer. His posters was
represented in numerous permanent collection and many of his posters
have been honored with numerous awards in Switzerland, Brno, Moscow,
Chaumont, New York, Toyoma, Mexico, Korea and Taiwan. Melchior
Imboden is currently the president of AGI for Switzerland.
