typography.ir, a platform to
introduce Iranian typography is online
typography.ir has opened its virtual doors on January 3rd of
this year. The website discusses what is different about graphic
design in Iran from what is known in western countries that we label
it with the distinguishing term "Iranian".
During the last ten years we have witnessed the eye-catching
participation of the new generation of Iranian graphic designers at
different events and exhibitions all over the world. This
participation has achieved successes that may serve to make up for
the delay in the entry of Iran's graphic design into the
international arena.
As globalization diminishes distances and opens barriers and
borders, intercultural exchange gains importance –
Kambiz Shafei, host of the website states in the introduction –
typography.ir serves as an online platform that introduces Iranian
typography to the western world by presenting some of the most
influential Iranian graphic designers and typographers along with
their works and opinions.
