Hard work, pure pleasure
by Majid Abbasi

In the community of Iranian graphic designers especially the younger generation there are few who haven't heard of the name Rene Wanner and Poster Page. He is a poster collector, and he has one of the most important internet sites which works as an international information center for poster art and design. He was one of the guests in the 8th Tehran International Poster Biennial 2004.

Lately after facing a lot of technical problems he finally made several pages about Tehran Biennial. In these pages you can find a complete view of the city of Tehran and street graphics, the environments, accompanying exhibitions, designers, his choice, Moorteza Momayez and the awards.
Rene has made these pages with a wise and critical mind, they will surly be a big part of posterpage, he always works hard and he gets pure pleasure from the work results. The important thing is that these pages shows us the organization of the Biennial and it's big influence it also reflects the participation of international designers from all over the world. The society and peoples culture and their environment are always important for him and this time is not an exception either. He wrote in introduction:
"After the first international biennial in Tehran, it is obvious that the ambitious goal has been reached in a very short time. Not only have some of the worlds best designers contributed and participated in Tehran, but iranian graphic designers have won international recognition and are treated as equals in world competitions.
Personally I feel that the best part is still to come once the world realizes the unique role that iranian graphic design can play due to it's long tradition of calligraphy and typography."

Rene Wanner was grown in Zurich and educated in Switzerland, Canada, the United States, and Germany. He has a PHD in physics. He now lives in a calm city, Rheinfelden, near Rhein river beside the German borders; the big pages of posterpage are made in his small office.

We all are grateful for having Rene as a friend.
Vive Rene!
